Pola Gauguin , born Paul Rollon Gauguin , (born December 6, 1883 in Paris , France , † July 2, 1961 in Copenhagen , Denmark ) was a Danish-Norwegian painter , art critic and biographer .

Life

Pola Gauguin was the son of Paul Gauguin and brother of Jean René Gauguin. According to the laws of the French Republic, he was the son of a French citizen (principle of descent ). He grew up in Copenhagen and married Ingrid Blehr (1881-1959) from Bergen , Norway in 1910 . The couple had a son, the future artist Paul René Gaugin . The couple moved to Oslo , Norway in 1912 , where Gauguin became a Norwegian citizen in 1916.

From 1945 until he moved to Denmark, Gauguin was a critic of the Oslo daily Verdens Gang, among other things . In 1949 he finally settled in Copenhagen.
