Political Film Society Award
The Political Film Society Awards have been given annually since 1987 by the Political Film Society in four categories to films that address topics such as democracy, peace, human and civil rights. The special prize is awarded irregularly, up to now in the years 1987 to 1997 and 2001.
The awards have been called the Stanley Awards since 1998 , when Stanley M. Castillo , a director of the Political Film Society, died of cancer that year . In memory of the 41-year-old director, the award now bears this nickname.
