Instead of leaving Myanmar, which the state government is calling on visitors to do, she accompanies Professor U Aung Ko on his journey through the country. She is committed to the people of the country. Her own life is no longer worth anything to her, as she herself says, “she just wanted to die to be with them again”.

When a soldier tries to rape Laura, who is looking for medicines for the sick professor, she shoots him. Later the professor and she come to the capital where they want to reach the US embassy. The professor and her are searched for, they flee. In the streets they witnessed massacres of demonstrating students. Some of the young men take them to the rebel camp near the state border.
