John Seale

John Seale (born October 5, 1942 in Warwick , Queensland ) is an Australian cameraman .

Career

Seale began his career as a cameraman for Australian television in the 1970s. Australian director Peter Weir brought out Seale's first international works. Today he is one of the most recognized cameramen on the international cinema scene. He was nominated five times for an Oscar , for The Only Witness , Rain Man , On the Road to Cold Mountain and The English Patient and Mad Max Fury Road . In 1997 he received the Oscar for The English Patient . For this he also received the British BAFTA Award , the European Film Prize and the Boston Society of Film Critics Award for best camera . In 2011 he was honored with the International Achievement Award from the American Society of Cinematographers .
