politik-digital.de is a party-independent information and communication platform on the subject of internet and politics . It is operated by the non-profit association politik-digital eV based in Berlin , which guarantees independence. The operators want to intensify the exchange between politics and citizens, improve the possibilities for democratic participation of citizens and promote more transparency within political institutions and processes. Politik-digital.de offers new articles and reports on the subject of "political communication and new media" every day.

history

The website politik-digital.de has existed since November 1998. Lars Hinrichs , Peer-Arne Böttcher and Philipp Stradtmann founded it as a follow-up project to wahlkampf98.de, a platform for the 1998 federal election. Politik-digital.de received the Grimme Online Award for Media Competence 2001 and was awarded the Alternative Media Prize in 2003. In 2001 and 2003 PoliticsOnline recognized politik-digital.de as one of the "25 Who Are Changing the World of Internet and Politics".

In 2002, the award of the Poldi Award to the Internet network Indymedia caused public criticism, as it was initiated by the Federal Agency for Civic Education , while Indymedia is classified as left-wing extremist by several offices for the protection of the constitution . Sponsoring association

The sponsoring association politik-digital (until 05/2014 pol-di.net) (more precisely: “politik-digital for a democratic and digital development of the European information society”) was founded at the end of 1999. The association has been a non-profit organization since January 2007. He describes himself as a “digital think tank in the European information society”. politik-digital eV is financed through strategic and practical services in the field of political online communication. This includes the implementation of live chats (e.g. with politicians), editorial and conceptual services as well as the preparation of scientific studies and research papers. In 2002 the association presented the “poldi Award”, endowed with 5,000 euros, for e-democracy in Berlin. The award winners included Germanwatch (category: environment and sustainable development), the global network of independent media activists and journalists Indymedia (category: science, education and culture), the information portal on Tourette syndrome “tourette.de” (category: health and social issues ) as well as the “zivi-in-ghana.de” initiative (Category: Democracy and Citizen Engagement).

Projects

politik-digital.de has carried out a large number of projects over the years.
