Polly Bradfield

Polly Bradfield (born before 1970) is an American jazz and improvisation musician ( violin ).

Bradfield started playing the piano at the age of eight before switching to the violin. Under the influence of the music of Cecil Taylor , she moved from classical to improvised music. In the downtown scene of New York she played with Wayne Horvitz and Robin Holcomb , as well as with David Sewelson , Carolyn Romberg and Mark E. Miller . From the late 1970s and first half of the 1980s she worked with Eugene Chadbourne , Andrea Centazzo and with John Zorn , on whose early recordings for the Parachute label she was involved. In 1979 she released a solo LP on Chadbournes label Parachute entitled Solo Violin Improvisations . She can also be heard on recordings by Frank Lowe and William Parker . Her last recording was Zorn's The Big Gundown (1986). After that she lived in California and ended her musical career. In the field of jazz she was involved in 15 recording sessions between 1977 and 1984.
