Udomporn Polsak

Udomporn Polsak (in Thai อุดม พร พล ศักดิ์ , nickname Orn ; born October 6, 1981 in Nakhon Ratchasima ( Thailand )) is a Thai weightlifter . Udomporn is the first Olympic champion from Thailand.

Career

Udomporn started lifting weights in Nakhon Ratchasima at the age of 14. In 1997 she started at the age of 16 in the weight class up to 48 kg body weight for the first time at a world championship and took 6th place. At the Junior World Championships in 1998 in Sofia and 1999 in Savannah / USA , things went well for her, she was both junior vice world champion. She continued to work hard and soon belonged to the absolute world class. Her greatest success is winning the Olympic gold medal in Athens in 2004 in the weight class up to 53 kg body weight.

Udomporn Polsak studied sports science at Bangkok University .

  • 2000, 3rd place , Asian Championship in Osaka , up to 48 kg body weight, with 165 kg, behind Niyangi Kaori, Japan , 185 kg and Kunjarani Nameirakpam Devi, India , 182.5 kg;
  • 2002, 2nd place , Asian Games in Busan , up to 53 kg, with 212.5 kg, behind Ri Song-Hui , North Korea , 225 kg and in front of Meng Xianjuan, China, 212.5 kg;
