Pomaré V.
Teriitaria Teratane Pomare (born November 3, 1839 in Taravao, † June 12, 1891 in Papeete ) ruled as King Pomare V from July 24, 1877 to June 29, 1880 and was the last king of Tahiti before the archipelago was annexed by France and became part of French Polynesia .
Origin and family
He was the son of Queen Aimata Pomare IV and her cousin Ariifaaite Tenania a Hiro, her second husband. On November 11, 1857 he married in Huahine Temarii a Teururai Maihara Teuhe (* 1838 - August 21, 1891), who later became Queen Teuhe II of Huahine and Maiao . She was the daughter of Queen Tehaapapa II.
His second marriage was on January 28, 1875, Joanna Marau Taaroa a Tepau Salmon (April 24, 1860 - February 2, 1934), the daughter of Alexander Salmon (1822–1866) and his wife Arii Taimai.
