Ponder is a city in Denton County in the US state of Texas in the United States .

The city is located in northeast Texas, at the junction of Farm Roads 156 and 2449, on the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway in the west of the county, is about 60 km to the north from Oklahoma and has a total area of ​​8.2 km² without any significant body of water.

history

When the tracks were laid, the railway company named the small community Gerald and in 1887 the first passenger reached the place. Since there was already another place called Gerald in Texas, the place was renamed Ponder in 1889 in honor of WA Ponder , a large landowner and banker.
