Poon Hang Wai (born April 28, 1999 in Hong Kong ) is a sprinter from Hong Kong.

Athletic career

Poon Hang Wai gained her first international experience at the Junior Asian Championships 2012 in Colombo , where she finished seventh in the 400-meter run in 58.19 seconds . The following year she finished eighth in the East Asian Games in Tianjin in 59.35 s. In 2014 she again took part in the Junior Asian Championships in Taipei , eliminated over 200 meters in the first round and finished sixth with the Hong Kong 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 50.29 minutes. In 2015 she took part in the Asian Championships in Wuhan for the first time, where she was eliminated again in the first round over 200 meters and finished fifth in the relay in 3: 56.40 minutes. At the Youth World Championships in Cali , she took part over 100 meters, but retired in 12.52 s in the preliminary round. Before that, she won the gold medal over 100 meters at the Asian Youth Championships in Doha in 12.27 s and finished fifth in the 200-meter run in 25.57 s and sixth in the sprint relay.

In 2018 she took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta for the first time and was eliminated in the first round of the 200-meter run and finished eighth in the 4-by-100-meter relay in 45.73 s. At the Asian Championships in Doha the following year, she retired with 25.12 s in the first round.

In 2019, Poon became Hong Kong champion in the 200-meter run. She is studying Education at the Chinese University of Hong Kong .
