history

The magazine first appeared as Rocky in 1977. Between November 1977 and June 1980 a total of 135 issues appeared. In 1980 the teen magazines Rocky, Pop and Popfoto were combined into Pop / Rocky . The first cover picture featured pop star Deborah Harry in 1980 . The magazine was published weekly in the mid-1990s. In 1998 the magazine was merged with the youth and music magazine Popcorn , which was also published by the Marquard Media Group . Along with Bravo and Popcorn, it was the best-selling of its kind.

content

As with other magazines for this target group, the cover picture was reserved for the currently most popular stars, including Abba , Kim Wilde , Nena , Boy George , New Kids on the Block , Lucilectric , DJ Bobo , Pamela Anderson , Blümchen and the Backstreet Boys . In addition to the stories about current stars, there were also reports on movies, trends in fashion and entertainment, and youth issues ( love, sex and worries ). Contests, a photo love story, music charts and horoscopes were also part of the regular content. Posters and occasional stickers were also included with the magazine.

Pop / Rocky Hammer Smurf

Similar to the Bravo , the most popular artists of the year for Pop / Rocky were also chosen by the readers and honored with an award, the hammer smurf in gold, silver or bronze. Kim Wilde has been awarded a hammer smurf four times.
