The Port de la Carrasqueta (spelling in Valencian ) is a pass road in the mountainous region of Carrasqueta in Spain south of the city of Alcoy . The pass crossing is called Puerto de la Carrasqueta in Spanish .
The Spanish trunk road N340 ( Barcelona - Cádiz ) leads over this 1024 m high mountain road. It is an inland connection between the two Spanish cities of Valencia in the north and Alicante in the south.
Due to the construction of the toll-free Autovía A-7 that runs past to the west, the Carrasqueta is hardly used anymore. It is closed to truck traffic. The scenic mountain road is now only of touristic importance. There are simple resting places in the area of the pass. The Mediterranean Sea is less than 20 km away as the crow flies .
