The Portal Rock ( English for portal rock ) is a 1990 m high, tower-like rock hill in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . It rises about 2.5 km northwest of Fairchild Peak and south of the confluence of the Tillit Glacier in the Lennox King Glacier .
Scientists from a team of geologists at Ohio State University who worked in the area between 1966 and 1967 named it so because the only safe route to the Tillite Glacier is between this formation and Fairchild Peak.
