PostNL is a Dutch company active in the transport of letters and parcels as well as e-commerce . It has offices in the Netherlands , Germany , Italy , Belgium , Luxembourg and the United Kingdom . It was originally called TNT NV and was renamed PostNL NV in 2011 after it spun off from TNT Express . It is listed on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

history

The company was founded in 1989 from the privatization of the Dutch state-owned Post Posterijen, Telegrafie en Telefonie . The telecommunications sector was later outsourced and the company was run as PTT Post. After the takeover of the Australian Thomas Nationwide Transport , it initially became TNT Post and finally TNT NV in 2010 the express business was spun off again.

As decided by the Annual General Meeting on May 25, 2011, PostNL NV is the new name of TNT NV following the spin-off of TNT Express from the company. PostNL retained a 29.9% stake in TNT Express after the separation was completed. This stake has since been sold.

PostNL continued to use the TNT Post name in Belgium , Luxembourg , Germany , Italy and the UK shortly after the split, in accordance with TNT Express that the name change would take place by the end of 2014. At the end of 2013, the Belgian branch was also renamed PostNL. TNT Post Germany was renamed Postcon Germany in March 2014 . In May 2014, TNT Post Italy was renamed Nexive . The same logo style was used as at the parent company PostNL. TNT Post UK was renamed Whistl in September 2014 .

In October 2015, PostNL sold 82.5% of the British postal company Whistl to management in a management buyout .

At the beginning of November 2019, the Postcon Group announced the successful completion of the change of ownership from PostNL to Quantum Capital Partners based in Munich .
