Postcon (also: Postcon National , formerly Postcon Germany ) is a mail service provider specially for business mail. The market share in Germany is around 10 percent. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Quantum Capital Partners GmbH .

history

Postcon goes back to EP Europost AG & Co. KG from Hanover . The joint venture between the Dutch TNT Post Group (TPG NV) and the German Hermes Logistik Gruppe distributed letters , Infopost , mail-order catalogs and press products that did not come under the letter monopoly .

From April 2006 onwards, EP Europost operated under the name TNT Post .

In April 2011 the TNT Post branch in Hamburg was sold to Elbkurier GmbH, which filed for bankruptcy in October of the same year.

The Fellbach branch of TNT Post in Stuttgart was closed in February 2012 after TNT acquired a stake in the local private postal service provider BWPOST .

On March 19, 2014, TNT Post was converted to Postcon . The companies were combined under Postcon and kept their locations.

At the beginning of December 2016, Postcon applied to the Federal Cartel Office to take over the majority of PIN Mail AG and the nationwide mail network Mail Alliance . So far, Postcon has held an equal share in both companies in a joint venture with the Holtzbrinck Publishing Group .

At the beginning of November 2019, the Postcon Group announced the successful completion of the change of ownership from PostNL to Quantum Capital Partners based in Munich . Due to the takeover, Quantum Capital Partners founded Blitz 19-232 GmbH on August 6, 2019, which was renamed Postcon National GmbH on October 31, 2019. Postcon National GmbH took over all assets from Postcon Deutschland BV & Co. KG.

Postcon offers the delivery of letters, Infopost, mailings, consignments as well as the delivery of municipal letters and international mail for business customers in Germany who send more than 50 business letters and shipments daily.

About 30 percent of German households are reached directly through our own delivery structures in the Ruhr area and the Rhineland, as well as through around 20 holdings in regional, mostly publisher-linked mail services. In order to be able to offer a nationwide delivery service, Postcon works with Mail Alliance and Deutsche Post .

Situation since the end of the letter monopoly

Post minimum wage

In January 2008, TNT Post Regioservice GmbH and other competitors of Deutsche Post AG sued the German postal minimum wage ordinance. With this regulation it was determined that the minimum wage for mail services , which the employers' association Postdienste e. V. and the United Services Union had agreed in the collective agreement on minimum wages for the letter services sector of November 29, 2007, should also apply to all employers and employees in the sector who are not bound by the minimum wage collective agreement. The plaintiffs were successful in all three instances. In the final instance, the Federal Administrative Court found on January 28, 2010 that the Post Minimum Wage Ordinance violated the rights of the plaintiffs. (Quote: "The administrative court granted the plaintiff's petition for a declaration. The defendant's appeal was partially successful. The court of appeal held the employers' actions to be inadmissible. Otherwise, it confirmed the administrative court's decision.") This is the minimum wage on the postal market formally inoperative.

VAT privilege

Since July 1, 2010, universal services that are provided by Deutsche Post AG's competitors have also been formally exempt from sales tax, but the tax offices have only granted sales tax exemption to Deutsche Post AG with the argument that the private sector is not present across the board .
