Hubert Sedlmair
Hubert Johann Sedlmair (born April 3, 1927 in Roding in the Upper Palatinate ; † January 26, 2014 in Speyer ) was a German Catholic clergyman and cathedral chapter of the Speyer diocese .
Life
Hubert Sedlmair studied theology and philosophy at the seminary in Speyer and was ordained priest in the Speyer Cathedral in 1950 . He was first a chaplain in Ludwigshafen, Kaiserslautern and Homburg, then pastor of the parish Maria vom Frieden in Homburg.
Bishop Friedrich Wetter brought Sedlmair into the cathedral chapter . From 1974 to 2000 he was head of the building and art department in the Episcopal Ordinariate in Speyer, i.e. building department and diocesan curator. He was Domkustos ("Summus Custos") of the Romanesque Speyer Cathedral . Until 1987 he was also in charge of finance and asset management. During his tenure he had over 500 churches in the diocese restored and gave orders for 20 new churches. The renovation of the Speyer Cathedral was completed under his direction in 2003.
He was President of the Kolping Family in Speyer for more than 25 years .
In 1998 Sedlmair was appointed Knight of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Carlo Cardinal Furno and invested in Mainz Cathedral on May 9, 1998 by Anton Schlembach , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy .
