Arnulfstraße 62 is a building complex in Munich's Maxvorstadt that was used by Deutsche Post until the mid-2000s .
The area on the former Marsfeld is located between Arnulfstrasse , Wredestrasse, Tillystrasse and Deroystrasse at the Hackerbrücke . The Circus Krone , the Arnulfpark and the Augustiner-Keller restaurant are also within a radius of approx. 200 meters . A large circular building with a diameter of 52 meters and 58 doors is centrally located. This building was used as a distribution center for parcels from 1930 to 1985, and then as a canteen for a few years.
The buildings were constructed in 1926 according to plans by Robert Vorhoelzer and Walther Schmidt and are one of the most striking examples of the Post Building School . They wore, among other things, the terms Postfuhramt , Paketzustellamt , force post office and Arnulf Post . The rotunda is called the Postpalast today. It was used temporarily for events.
Since 2015 there has been a development plan for approx. 120 new residential units and commercial areas around the core area (belt buildings). On October 29, 2019, it became known that the Internet company Google had bought the Postpalast area and would expand the Munich location.
