Próxima Estación: Esperanza ( Eng . : 'Next Station: Hope') is Manu Chao’s second solo album , released in 2001 and after Clandestino (1998) . He sings in Arabic , English , French , Galician , Portuguese and Spanish on this album . The name comes from a sample of the announcement for the Esperanza station on line 4 of the Madrid subway .
In Germany, Próxima Estación: Esperanza was Manu Chao's most successful album to date and reached number 4 on the LP charts. In the "Top Latin Albums" of the American music magazine Billboard , the album made 8th place.
Three tracks were released as singles from the album: Me Gustas Tú , Merry Blues and Mr. Bobby . Me Gustas Tú reached number 27 on Billboard's “Latin Pop Airplay” charts.
After Manu Chao's promising debut album Clandestino , Alberto Moreno de la Fuente sees the All Music Guide in Próxima Estación: Esperanza as more of a clichéd and lukewarm copy of the previous album than an artistic development, despite a few songs worth listening to .
