Prachuap Khiri Khan (in Thai : ประจวบคีรีขันธ์ ) is the capital of the district ( Amphoe ) Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan and the province of Prachuap Khiri Khan . The province of Prachuap Khiri Khan is located in the southwest of the central region of Thailand .

Prachuap Khiri Khan is located on the Gulf of Thailand about 280 kilometers southwest of the capital Bangkok .
A little south of the city between the Gulf coast and Burma is the narrowest point of the national territory, which is only 13 kilometers wide.
Economy and Transport
The most important branches of economy are agriculture with fruit growing ( pineapple ), coconut palms and fishing .
Prachuap Khiri Khan has a train station on the Southern Railway , which connects Bangkok with Malaysia .
history
The city made headlines during World War II when the Japanese invaded Thailand on December 8, 1941 after the attack on Pearl Harbor . In Prachuap Khiri Khan they put troops ashore, but to conquer when trying the local base for the Royal Thai Air Force, with fierce resistance encountered. Only after receiving a direct order from their government did the Thai troops give up the resistance the next day. A big show takes place every year on this occasion.

- Wat Khao Tham Khan Kradai ( วัด เขา ถ้ำ คั่น กระได ) - cave temple on a barrier island to be reached by boat.
- Khao Chong Krachok ( Mirror Mountain) - a mountain on the outskirts, from which one has a wonderful view of the city and the sea, populated by large flocks of monkeys ; there is a small wat at the summit .
- Fishing port - worth a visit in the morning when the fishermen offer their catch.
