Prauthoy is a former French commune with a last 491 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2013) in the Haute-Marne department in the Grand Est region . The inhabitants are called Prauthoyens .

With effect from January 1, 2016, the municipalities of Prauthoy , Montsaugeon and Vaux-sous-Aubigny were merged into a Commune nouvelle called Le Montsaugeonnais .

Prauthoy is about 49 kilometers south-southeast of Chaumont .

The former Route nationale 74 (today's D974) runs through the village .
