Preben Rist

Preben J. Rist (born January 10, 1885 in Copenhagen , † February 12, 1967 there ) was a Danish actor and director .

Life

Rist initially worked as an insurance agent and had also tried his hand at writing. As a self-taught cinematic and adventurer, he traveled around the globe. These led him u. a. as far as Siberia and the USA and brought him first contacts with film people (the production company Vitagraph ) in America in 1913 .

In 1914, Rist returned to his Danish homeland, where he mainly appeared in front of the camera in films directed by August Blom . Most of the time, the narrow-faced Copenhagener with an accurate middle parting had to be content with quite small roles.

In the middle of the First World War, Preben was committed to Germany; there he made his debut in a Stuart Webbs crime series. According to his own statement, Preben Rist claims to have been involved in around 200 films (mostly as an actor) by the mid-1920s.

After living in Germany for eleven years, the Copenhagener returned to his Danish homeland, where he finally tried his hand at buying and selling.
