The 2,740 m high Preber is one of the most popular ski touring mountains in the Schladminger Tauern in winter , but it is also very popular in summer.

The summit of the Preber is located directly on the border between the federal states of Salzburg and Styria .

At the foot of the Preber is the Prebersee , this is the starting point for most mountain tours on the Preber and is especially known for the Preberseeschießen .

The first winter ascent took place on March 19, 1896 by Toni Schruf , Max Kleinoscheg and an unknown friend of the two.

Every year in March the Preberlauf (a ski touring competition) takes place. The start is just above the lake, the finish is right on the summit. The best ski tourers need less than 60 minutes for the 1220 meters of altitude.

The Bischofsloch (also Preberloch , Bischofswandloch ) is a 200 m long, well-known cave in the Preber-Bischofswand (between Trogleiteneck and Bockleiteneck) with traces of mining.
