João Coelho Netto , called Preguinho (born February 8, 1905 in Rio de Janeiro , † October 1, 1979 ibid) was a Brazilian football player . He took part in the first World Cup in Uruguay in 1930 , where he scored three goals.

Preguinho only played for Fluminense during his career , for which he scored a total of 129 goals. In 1924, 1936, 1937 and 1938 he was able to win the Campeonato Carioca with Fluminense , in 1930 and 1932 he was the top scorer in that league. He was a very variable athlete (he also practiced the sports of basketball , swimming , water polo , rowing , diving , athletics , volleyball and roller hockey ), which is why he received the title "Grande Benemerito Atleta" ( Portuguese Great, Meritorious Athlete ) in 1952 . In the end there were a total of 387 medals and 55 titles for him. In basketball he won the Campeonato Carioca from 1924 to 1927 and 1931, in volleyball and athletics he won the Rio de Janeiro State Championship in 1923 and 1927.

For the Brazilian national team , he was the first captain to take part in the 1930 World Cup. He scored Brazil’s first goal at a World Cup against Yugoslavia on Monday, July 14, 1930 in Parque Central , and he was also able to score two more goals in the second and last group game against Bolivia .
