The Prelitzsee is a lake north of Rechlin in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It lies in a marshland of the nature reserve " Müritzteilufer bei Rechlin " and has heavily reeded banks, so that an exact delimitation of the lake is impossible. Its size is about 4.5 hectares and is 62.1 m above sea level. NHN . The maximum extent of the open lake area is 290 meters by 200 meters. The lake is connected to the Bolter Canal via a ditch and above it to the Müritz , 900 meters away .
The Mecklenburg Lakes Cycle Route and the Müritz Cycle Route pass close to the Prelitzsee. Until 1936, the small town of Klopzow lay on its western bank , which was then used as a training area for the Rechlin air force test site .
