The Priest River is a 109 km long right tributary of the Pend Oreille River in the northwest of the US state Idaho .
The Priest River forms the drain of the 5 km long Upper Priest Lake in the Selkirk Mountains . Its main tributary is the Upper Priest River . After 3 km the Priest River reaches the northern end of the 31 km long Priest Lake , which it flows through in a south direction. The water level and discharge of the lake are regulated by a weir. When the water levels are high, the Priest River is completely dammed between the two lakes. Below Priest Lake, the Priest River flows 41 miles in a predominantly southerly direction before finally flowing into the Pend Oreille River at the small town of Priest River . This is dammed 8 km further west from the Albeni Falls Dam .
