Princess Resurrection ( Japanese 怪物 王 女 , Kaibutsu Ōjo , Eng . " Monster Princess ") is a manga series by the Japanese illustrator Yasunori Mitsunaga , which was published from 2005 to 2013 in Japan. The work was adapted as an anime and translated into several languages.
action
The boy Hiro Hiyorimi ( 日 和 見 日 郎 ) has moved to town to meet his sister. But there he suffers an accident in which he dies. While he is dying, he sees a young woman dressed in Gothic Lolita style who eventually revives him. He wakes up in the hospital morgue and meets the woman again shortly afterwards. She fights against wolf-like beings and calls him her servant, who should help her. From then on, Hiro accompanies her, Hime ( 姫 , dt. "Princess"), who fights against demons.
publication
The manga was published from July 2005 to April 2013 in the manga magazine Shōnen Sirius (from issue 8/2005) of the Kodansha publishing house . The individual chapters were also published in 20 anthologies. The ninth volume sold over 60,000 copies in Japan.
An English version of the manga is published by Del Ray and a French version by Pika Édition . The series was published in German as Princess Resurrection , the subtitle of the series in Japanese, from March 2010 to December 2013 at the publisher Egmont Manga and Anime .
Anime
In 2007, Studio Madhouse produced a 25-part anime television series based on the manga, directed by Masayuki Sakoi. The character design was done by Kazuya Kuroda and the artistic director was Yuka Okamoto. The series was broadcast from April 13 to September 28, 2007 (after midnight and thus on the previous television day ) by Tokyo Broadcasting System in the greater Tokyo area. Within two weeks, CBC in the greater Nagoya area , KBS Kyōto in the Kyōto prefecture and BS-i nationwide via satellite followed.
The anime was broadcast in English by The Anime Network .
On December 9th, 2010 a new OVA started with the 13th volume of the manga accompanied by a DVD as a bonus. A second and third episode were included in the 14th and 16th volume, respectively. The latter appeared on October 7, 2011. The OVA was animated by Tatsunoko Production .

The music for the series was composed by Mikiya Katakura from the band Ali Project . The opening credits were backed with the song Blood Queen by Aki Misato, the closing title is Hizamazuite Ashi o Oname ( 跪 い て 足 を お 嘗 め ) by Ali Project.
The music of the OVA comes from Makoto Takō .
