The Prinz-Eugen-Kaserne in Külsheim was a Bundeswehr location in the Main-Tauber-Kreis in Baden-Württemberg from 1964 to 2006 . After the purchase of the area by the city of Külsheim, the commercial park II with commercial and residential areas is being built as part of a conversion .

The former barracks is located in the southwest of Külsheim. The barracks area is bounded from north-west to north by state road 509 , from north to north-east by state road 504 , to the south-east (behind the training area) by Haigergrund and to the south by Rüdental. The Külsheim suburb of Steinfurt and the state road 508 follow about one kilometer west of the on-site training area .

history

Prince Eugene Barracks

In 1964 Kuelsheim was location of the army of the Bundeswehr. Up to three tank battalions were temporarily stationed in the Prinz-Eugen-Kaserne. The 42-year history of Külsheim as a garrison town ended in September 2006 when the last units based here, namely the 363 tank battalion, the tank pioneer company 300 and the Külsheim medical center, were dissolved and the Prinz Eugen barracks closed with them.

Conversion: Development of the industrial park II

After negotiating land with the Federal Agency for Real Estate Affairs, the city ​​of Külsheim took over the former barracks with all the buildings. Since then, the conversion of the former Bundeswehr site has been progressing, creating commercial and residential space. For this purpose, the city founded the Business Area Külsheim GmbH in 2008 , which takes care of the conversion of the Bundeswehr location into a business location.

There is a traditional association of former members of the Külsheim location as a registered association.
