Prioria oxyphylla (Syn .: Oxystigma oxyphyllum ) is a species of tree from the legume family that occurs in Central Africa , Congo , Angola , Cameroon and Nigeria .

description

Prioria oxyphylla grows as a semi-evergreen tree up to 50 meters high. The trunk diameter reaches 1.3-3 meters. Buttress roots are usually not formed, only root approaches . The grayish bark is scaly to slightly cracked. The tree carries a resin .

The alternate, stalked leaves are usually alternately paired pinnate with 6–10 short-stalked, leathery and almost bare leaves . The leaf stalk is up to 2.5 centimeters long, the rachis up to 11 centimeters and the leaflet stalks up to 6–7 millimeters. The elliptical to obovate, acuminate to acuminate leaflets, often with a slightly uneven blade, are 6-11 centimeters long and 2-4.5 centimeters wide. The minimal stipules fall off early.

Axillary, compound, short-haired grapes are formed. The very small, hermaphroditic and short-stalked flowers with a simple flower envelope are yellowish-white, the petals are missing. There are very small bracts and aprons . The 5 small, ciliate and free sepals are only up to 2 millimeters long and somewhat boat-shaped. There are 10 free, protruding stamens with hairy stamens and a top constant, minimum, and hairy einkammeriger ovary with a conical, partly hairy and relatively short pen available.

Solitary, glabrous and one-sided winged wing nuts ( legumes ) about 6-11.5 centimeters long are formed. The large, long wing is veined. The ellipsoidal, flattened seeds are up to 2.5 centimeters in size.

Taxonomy

The first description of Basionyms Pterygopodium oxyphyllum was made in 1913 by Hermann Harms. In Bot cent. Syst. 49: 439. The division into the genus Prioria to Prioria oxyphylla took place in 1999 by Frans Breteler in Wageningen Agric. Univ. Pap. 99 (3): 37. Further synonyms are Oxystigma mortehanii De Wild. and Oxystigma oxyphyllum (Harms) J.Léonard

use

The medium-weight wood is moderately resistant, it is known as tchitola .

The resin is also used.
