The Prismatine Peak (formerly Tourmaline peak is) a 95 m high mountain on the Ingrid Christensen Coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth country . It rises as one of the peaks of the Larsemann Hills on the Stornes Peninsula in Prydz Bay .
It was examined for the first time during a campaign of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions from 1986 to 1987 . Further investigations from 2003 to 2004 showed that instead of the originally assumed tourmaline, the rare prismatin represents the dominant mineral in the borosilicate rock of this mountain. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia changed the original name at the suggestion of Ed Grew of the University of Maine .
