action

With the help of Anya, the protagonist Jones infiltrates the base of a Russian arms dealer named Jach Priboi in order to capture him and obtain information about a stolen warhead . He succeeds, but the evacuation fails. The Russians, who are hostile to him, take Priboi and Jones' equipment with them, so that his next job is to empower himself. Another objective of the mission is to capture Priboi again. When he learns from an interrogation that Ekk is a spy for the Russian woman, he sets out to catch her and find the nuclear weapon . Ekk escapes when she first meets Jones, but Jones kills her after finding her second hiding place as well.

When it was released, the first person shooter received mixed reviews due to a number of shortcomings, including poorly programmed artificial intelligence , the lack of a savegame feature during the game, and the lack of a multiplayer .

However, its sound design and graphics were praised , among other things thanks to the use of a proprietary engine that was previously used in Innerloop's video game Joint Strike Fighter .

Project IGI received a "Silver" sales award from the Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association for sales of at least 100,000 copies.

Sequel and prequel

In 2003 the sequel IGI-2: Covert Strike was released . A prequel called IGI: Origins was announced in 2019 for 2021.
