Lake Prokljan (Croatian Prokljansko jezero ) is the fourth largest lake in Croatia with an area of 11.1 km² and is located between Šibenik and Skradin in the immediate vicinity of the Krka National Park . The lake is fed by the Krka and Guduća rivers . It is connected to the Adriatic . Salt water also flows into the lake with the tides. So it happens that in the deeper layers mainly salt water is to be found and in the upper layers more fresh water. In places, however, this relationship is reversed - namely where groundwater gushes out of the lake floor.

The distance to the open sea is approx. 7 km as the crow flies. The villages on the shore are Raslina, Bilice and the small, eponymous village Prukljan. The places Bićine, Skradin and Zaton also belong to the social sphere of influence.

Since the geographical attributes for a lake are not met, it was considered in 2012 to refer to the lake as a bay in the future. At the initiative of the mayor of Raslina, Ivan Rajić, in 2014 it was suggested neither to use the designation lake nor bay, but to simply rename it to "Prukljan", as it is also popularly spoken.

Fishing

You can fish all year round in Lake Prokljan. Due to the peculiarity that both fresh and salt water can be found, both freshwater fish and marine animals can be caught:
