Prom Queen - One Like No One (alternatively The Chaos Ball - A Detoured Date , in the original Prom Queen: The Marc Hall Story ) is a Canadian film from 2004 with Aaron Ashmore in the leading role. He tells the story of Marc Hall. The film is based on a true story.

Marc Hall lives in the small town of Inniston, Canada, and goes to a Catholic high school there. His friends, open-minded teachers and his parents (but only later) know that he is gay. But when he wants to take his friend with him to prom, the rector refuses. Marc and his parents contact the school committee, but they too think that “homosexual” and “catholic” do not go together. Marc does not want to accept that and is fighting for his rights and suddenly his story is in the press.

Reviews

S. James Wegg described the film as enjoyable to look at , as fun for the whole family and praised the music ( "a pleasure to watch" ... "music tracks, sound great" ... "it's fun for the whole family" ).

Awards

In 2005 the film was nominated in two categories at the Gemini Awards , namely Jean Pierre Bergeron for Best Supporting Actor and Mike Lee for Best Editing.
