Prosdocimus
According to legend, Prosdocimus († allegedly around 100 in Padua ) was the first bishop of Padua .
According to the legendary Vita from the 12th century, he was of Greek origin - the name Prosdokimos also suggests this - and was sent on a mission to Italy by Peter of Antioch at the age of 20 . Tradition sees him in close connection with the work of St. Mark , who is said to have been active in Aquileia , and Apollinaris , the legendary first bishop of Ravenna ; Prosdocimus had evangelized as far as western Veneto . The earliest written mention of Prosdocimus comes from around the 6th century in the form of an inscription on a relief in the church of Santa Giustina in Padua, which identifies him as a bishop and confessor. A document from 860 mentions his cult for the first time. The saint's feast day is November 7th .
