Protein E7 is an oncogenic protein of the human papillomavirus 16. It is used together with hTERT in biochemistry and cell biology for the immortalization of cells .
properties
The E7 protein is used to replicate the viral genome . Combined with E6 transformed it host cells . It brings dormant cells to cell division by overcoming the checkpoints of the cell from the G 0 phase to the S phase . It causes the dissociation of E2F1 from pRB , which initiates the gene expression of E2F1-regulated genes of the S-phase. It also inhibits the cellular deacetylation of histones by HDAC1 and HDAC2 . It also inhibits the formation of interferon-α . Protein E7 binds to TMEM173 / STING and thereby inhibits the formation of type I interferons (interferon-α and interferon-β ). It binds divalent zinc ions via its zinc finger . Protein E7 induces the formation of Rad51 and delays DNA repair . It also induces the formation of hTERT .
