The Chilean province of Tierra del Fuego ( German Province of Tierra del Fuego ) is located in the Chilean part of the Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego . It has the same name as the Argentine province of Tierra del Fuego on the eastern side of the same island. The province consists of three municipalities, the capital Porvenir , Primavera and Timaukel . According to the Chilean census 2002, Tierra del Fuego has 6904 inhabitants, of which 4418 (64%) are men and 2486 women, this is the highest surplus of men of all Chilean provinces. Nevertheless, with Catalina Besnier Anguita, a woman is officiating as governor. The urban population includes 4734 residents of Porvenir, the remaining 2170 belong to the rural population.
