With a basic focus on depth psychology , the magazine wants to promote the exchange of different therapy schools and the various professional groups that are active in the field of work with the elderly . The editors are Astrid Riehl-Emde ( Heidelberg University Hospital ) (managing director), Simon Forstmeier ( University of Siegen ), Ines Himmelsbach ( Catholic University of Freiburg ), Eva-Marie Kessler ( MSB Medical School Berlin ), Reinhard Lindner ( Hamburg ), Meinolf Peters ( Marburg ) and Bertram von der Stein ( Cologne ).

Goal setting and topics

The aim of the journal is to contribute to the development of a differentiated and profiled understanding of geriatric psychotherapy. It is located at the interface between science and practice and contains empirical research results as well as case studies and practice-oriented articles. The booklets are supplemented by current information, book and magazine reviews and descriptions of institutions.

The individual volumes each have a thematic focus. On the one hand, they are dedicated to age-specific questions in the context of certain phenomena or disorders such as fear , depression , the psychological consequences of migration , personality disorders , pain , grief and trauma . On the other hand, the focus is on special forms of therapy or treatment-related topics such as the initial consultation, group therapy , art , music and dance therapy , cognitive behavioral therapy or taboos in the therapeutic relationship. Some of the booklets raise overarching issues related to the topics of care and psychotherapy, psychotherapy and palliative medicine , images of old age or intergenerational dialogue. In 2011, a volume was dedicated to the founder of geriatric psychotherapy Hartmut Radebold on his 75th birthday.
