Ptinella tenella is a beetle fromthe dwarf beetle family (Ptiliidae).
features
The beetles reach a body length of 0.6 to 0.65 millimeters. The species looks very similar to Ptinella aptera . The posterior angles of the pronotum are obtuse and rounded at the tip. The disk of the pronotum has no, occasionally two deep, elongated impressions. The winged form of the species is yellow and has no eyes.
Occurrence and way of life
The species is distributed in Europe in the north from the British Isles, Sweden, Norway, Finland to Karelia and in the south from France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania. The species is not common in Central Europe. The animals live under the bark of dead wood and in mud.
