Macroscopic features
Puccinia bambusarum can only be recognized with the naked eye from the spore beds protruding on the surface of the host. They grow in nests that appear as yellowish to brown spots and pustules on the leaf surfaces.
Microscopic features
The mycelium of Puccinia bambusarum grows as with all Puccinia TYPES intercellular and forms Saugfäden that grow into the storage tissue of the host. Aecia or spermogonia of the species are not known. The fungus's yellowish uredia grow on the underside of the host's leaves. Their colorless to yellow uredospores are ellipsoidal to ovate, 24–32 × 18–22 µm in size and finely spiky. The parts of the species growing underneath the leaves are cinnamon-brown and uncovered early. The yellow to light golden teliospores of the species are two-celled, often obliquely septate, ellipsoidal to narrowly ovate and 20–28 × 12–15 µm in size. Their stalk is yellowish to colorless and up to 80 µm long.
