Recreation area |
The Puckinger See (also Badesee Pucking ) is an artificially created local recreation area for Linz east of the town of Pucking of the same name . It includes the swimming lake, a small lawn, tennis courts, a snack bar, an allotment garden, a sports center with a climbing hall and a beach volleyball court.
history
As with many lakes in the Linz area, the gravel deposits in the area of today's Puckinger See served a construction project. During the construction of the A25 Welser Autobahn (formerly Linz Autobahn ) between the Haid (Ansfelden) junction and the Wels junction , around 40,000 cubic meters of material were extracted. The pit filled with water and so the Puckinger See was created. The lake is fed from the groundwater stream of the nearby Traun .
Puckinger See local recreation area today
The Puckinger See is used today as a local recreation area. Due to its location next to the A25, from which it is separated by a 150-meter-wide strip of sunbathing lawn and trees, the noise pollution is higher and more constant than, for example, at Pichlinger See , which the Westbahn runs past. Although the water is of bathing quality, the noise level, the dense vegetation with aquatic plants and the steep bank slopes spoil the bathing pleasure.
The lake is 4 meters deep on average and the bottom is densely overgrown. The fish population is diverse, with carp , pikeperch , catfish and also a paddlefish in the water, which is up to 25 degrees Celsius.
On the east bank there is a buffet, stick sports and soccer fields and sanitary facilities. At the beginning of this decade, the community of Pucking built a beach volleyball court on the south bank. Here you will also find a climbing hall and the allotment garden. The western part of the lake is natural, in the north there is the narrow lawn that borders directly on the motorway.
The lake is very popular with anglers due to the diverse fish population. In winter, ice skaters and stick shooters come to spend their free time together on the frozen water.
Diving
Diving in the Puckinger See is only permitted with a chargeable certificate issued by the municipal administration.
