Puff Johnson

Puff Johnson (* 10. December 1972 in Detroit , Michigan as Ewanya Johnson; † 24. June 2013 ) was an American Soul - and rhythm and blues - singer and songwriter .

Live and act

Puff Johnson sang the backing vocals on Tupac Shakur's hit single, Me Against The World . In 1996 she released her debut single Forever More , which was number 29 in the UK and number 31 in the US. Her debut album Miracle followed a short time later and made it to number 61 in the US charts. Her second single, All Over Your Face , reached number 57 in the US.

She had her biggest hit with the song Over and Over , the title track of the film The Devil's Club . The song made it to number 20 in England and Holland and number 29 in the charts in Australia. In 1997 she went on a European tour in support of Michael Jackson . At the end of the year her album reached the top 40 of the Dutch charts. Puff Johnson had not released another album since then and withdrew from the public. In 2005 she co-wrote three songs on Leela James ' album A Change is Gonna Come .

In 2008 Johnson was diagnosed with cervical cancer. She succumbed to cancer on June 24, 2013 at the age of 40.
