Pule Si , the "Temple of Universal Joy" or "Temple of General Happiness" (also known as Yuán Tíngzi圆 亭子, "round pavilion"), is an important Buddhist temple from the Qing Dynasty in Chengde ( Hebei Province of the People's Republic China ). It is one of the group of the Eight Outer Temples ( Waibamiao ) and has been a national monument since 1961 .
The temple was built to receive the annual tribute delegations of Mongolian dignitaries.
The building at the rear of the complex is a scaled-down replica of the circular hall of the harvest victims of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing .
