Punt dal Gall is a dam in the canton of Graubünden on the border between Switzerland and Italy . It is 130 meters high and dams the Spöl and Ova dal Gall from the Italian Livigno valley . Almost the entire reservoir Lago di Livigno lies on Italian territory in the Livigno Alps . The structure was completed in 1968.
The name comes from the bridge over the Gall brook that used to exist there, in Rhaeto-Romanic Punt dal Gall .
The reservoir is connected to the Ova Spin ( ⊙ ) power station , which is integrated into the Lai dad Ova Spin reservoir . It can turbine water from the Lago di Livigno and generate electricity in the process, as well as pump water, which is fed from the Inn into the Spölsee, into the Lago di Livigno. The water is then only used when required to generate electricity. The power plant is located near the Ofenpassstrasse in the Spölschlucht above Zernez .
Guided tours through the dam are available for groups on request. The operators are the Engadine power plants .
The road over the dam can be reached from the Swiss side via the single-lane, toll-based Munt-la-Schera tunnel .
