Punu (also Ipounou, Ipunu, Pouno, Puno, Yipounou and Yipunu) is a Bantu language and is spoken by the approximately 132,060 Bapunu in Gabon and the Republic of the Congo (2000 census).
It is widespread in Gabon in the provinces Nyanga and Ngounié in the area around Ndende and Tchibanga with around 123,000 speakers and in the Republic of the Congo in the Niari region on the border with Gabon with around 9060 speakers.
Punu is written in the Latin script .

Punu is a northwest Bantu language and belongs to the Sira group , which is classified as Guthrie Zone B40.
