The porphyry Brown amanita ( Amanita porphyria ), also Porphyrwulstling or purple brown Amanita called, is a type of fungus from the family of Wulstlingsverwandten .

features

Macroscopic features

Typical is a purple-brown hat with flat remains of velum that hardly contrasts in color.

The porphyry brown amanita has a copper- to purple-brown hat, covered with gray remains of velum , arched to spread out. The diameter is four to twelve centimeters. The lamellae are whitish, stand together, and are free. The spore powder is white and amyloid . The stem is colored like the hat, or whitish. If the color is pronounced, it has a distinct snake; the tuber is very thick and strong and has a separate edge. The ring is whitish, drooping. At the top it is not or only slightly grooved. The smell is musty like potato sprouts. The taste is radish-like.

Microscopic features

The spores are seven to ten micrometers in diameter.

Species delimitation

The porphyry brown amanita can be confused with the edible gray amanita ( Amanita excelsa ) and with the highly poisonous panther mushroom ( Amanita pantherina ). Both differ in the lack of purple tones. The gray amanita also has a non-separated stem and a clearly grooved ring, the panther mushroom has small, white remains of velum on its hat and a significantly slimmer, often multi-beaded tuber.

The yellow cap mushroom ( Amanita citrina ) is related and very similar in habit, but is white to pale yellow-green in color.

Ecology and phenology

The species occurs in Central Europe in coniferous forests under spruces and pines, but only on acidic soils, not over lime. It is common, the fruiting bodies can be found from July to October.

meaning

The species is slightly poisonous. It contains bufotenin , which speeds up the heart and narrows the blood vessels.
