Johannes Baptista von Albertini (born February 17, 1769 in Neuwied , † December 6, 1831 in Berthelsdorf near Herrnhut ( Upper Lusatia )) was a bishop and song writer of the Moravian Brethren . He also worked as a botanist and mycologist . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is “ Alb. "

He came from an old noble family from Graubünden. His parents had joined the Moravian Brethren in Neuwied. From 1782 Albertini was a student at the pedagogy in Niesky and then a seminarian at the theological seminary in Barby on the Elbe. Here he made friends with Friedrich Schleiermacher . After teaching positions in Niesky in 1788 and in Barby from 1789, he became a lecturer at the seminary in Niesky in 1796. In 1804 he became a preacher in Niesky and in 1814 in Gnadenberg near Bunzlau . On August 24, 1814, he was ordained bishop in Herrnhut near Zittau (Upper Lusatia) . In 1818 he became a preacher in Gnadenfrei and in 1821 a member and 1824 chairman of the university elders' conference in Berthelsdorf.

Albertini was considered an important, well-known preacher and, alongside Friedrich von Hardenberg ( Novalis ), one of the most important songwriters of his time. Many of his sermons appeared in print.

He also worked as a botanist and mycologist . Together with Lewis David von Schweinitz, he wrote the work Conspectus Fungorum in Lusatiae Superioris Agro Niskiense Crescentium e Methodo Persoonia , published in Leipzig in 1805. The German title reads: "Observation of the mushrooms of Upper Lusatia that grow in the fields around Nisky, according to the Persoon method". This work contains 1130 species, including 127 new species. The genera Albertinia and Albertinella were named after him.
