Puyallup [ pjuˈæləp ] is a small town in Pierce County in the US state of Washington . The city is about 8 km east of Tacoma . At the 2000 census, Puyallup had a population of 33,011. It is estimated at 36,930 by the state government for 2008. The place is named after the Indian tribe of the same name. The Lipoma Firs Golf Course is located in the village .
