Modern times
The rural community of Pidna ( Κοινότητα Πίδνας Kinótita Pídnas ) with the administrative seat Kitros was recognized in 1918 and was initially part of the then Prefecture of Thessaloniki . After renaming to Pydna ( Κοινότητα Πύδνας Kinótita Pýdnas ) in 1940, the rural community came to the Prefecture of Pieria in 1949 through outsourcing . With the territorial reform in 1997 , Pydna was merged with three other rural communities to form what was then the municipality of Pydna . Since the administrative reform in 2010 , Pydna has the status of a local community ( Τοπική Κοινότητα Πίδνας Topikí Kinótita Pýdnas ) in the Pydna district of the Pydna-Kolindros municipality .
