Administrative division
The rural community of Pidna ( Kinotita Pidnis Κοινότητα Πίδνης) with its administrative seat in Kitros was recognized in 1918. The renaming in Pydna took place in 1940, the spin-off from the former prefecture of Thessaloniki in the newly founded Prefecture Pieria 1949. The survey of township (dimos) in the course of municipal reform in 1997 was related to annexation of rural communities Paleostani, Sfendami and Alonia. The merger of the municipality of Pydna with three neighboring municipalities to form the new municipality of Pydna-Kolindros was carried out after the administrative reform in 2010 , where it has since formed a municipality and is divided into four local communities.
