The Pyhäjoki (literally "holy river") is a 166 km long river in the Finnish landscape of Northern Ostrobothnia .

It has its origin in Lake Pyhäjärvi , the flow of which is regulated. It flows in a predominantly north-north-west direction past Kärsämäki , Haapavesi and Oulainen through a sparsely populated area in the south-west of north Ostrobothnia. The river flows into the Gulf of Bothnia near the village of the same name, Pyhäjoki . Shortly before reaching the Baltic Sea , the river splits into two estuary arms. The catchment area of the Pyhäjoki covers 3750 km², its mean discharge is 30 m³ / s.
