The Pymatuning State Park is 85.48 square kilometers (21,122 acres) is the largest state park in the US state of Pennsylvania . It consists of the dammed Pymatuning Reservoir with 13,716 acres of water and 7406 acres of land with extensive bank zones at a height of 308 m. With 4.5 million visitors a year, Crawford County's park is the most visited in the state. The shoreline and lake areas adjacent to the east side in the US state of Ohio belong to the smaller Pymatuning State Park (Ohio) of the same name and are not included here.

There are several hiking trails, campsites, beaches, boat harbors, some with boat rental, as well as fishing and hunting areas by the lake. In the northern part there are two natural areas , the Blackjack Swamp Natural Area and Clark Island. A Waterfowl Museum and a fish farm are available as well as the Pymatuning Laboratory of Ecology of the University of Pittsburgh .

The eastern part of the lake is crossed by a causeway that has developed into a special tourist attraction at the overflow structure that connects the two parts of the lake, the number of visitors in Pennsylvania only being exceeded by the Liberty Bell . On the road there are parking spaces, a restaurant and a sales point for bread that can be fed to animals. At the lower part of the overflow, the carp , which are fed by visitors, gather head to head in such large numbers that the ducks can walk around on them ( Where the Ducks Walk on the Fish ).
